Conspiracy theories are easily perpetuated on social media. So we asked Alan Duke, Editor-in-Chief of LeadStories.com, to go over how he does what he does to keep people from believing nonsense online. Duke says we’ve always had conspiracy theories, but social media creates a fast track for them that didn’t exist before. He tells Lisa theories represent ideas that fit a narrative for people when there are not a lot of answers on a certain subject. So how do we figure out what’s real vs. what’s fiction?
