Attica Locke tells Carlos Amezcua about weaving the culture of the South, history and some social commentary into her latest novel “Guide Me Home” as part of her Highway 59 series. It’s the third and final book in the critically acclaimed series follows on the heels of the widely popular “Bluebird, Bluebird” and “Heaven, My Home.” 

Attica Locke is an award-winning screenwriter, TV producer, and NY Times best-selling novelist. In 2022, she co-created and served as showrunner on “From Scratch,” the Netflix adaptation of her sister Tembi Locke’s memoir, which trended in the top 10 globally in 84 countries for weeks following its release. Her screenwriting/producer credits also include “When They See Us,” “Empire” and the Emmy-nominated “Little Fires Everywhere,” for which she won an NAACP Image award for television writing. Attica and Tembi Locke currently have an overall deal with Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. A native of Houston, Attica lives in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter.
